Colour's And Patterns
Devon Rex comes in all colour's and
patterns that you see in other breeds. We have gathered information about
the most common coat colour's and patterns seen in Australia.
Solid
Colour
The entire coat is one colour from head to
tail. All patterned and variant colour's come from these solid colour's.
They include, Black, White, Red, Blue, Cream, Lilac & Chocolate.
Tabby
Pattern
Any of the solid colour's
(except white) can come in a tabby pattern. Most common
Tabby patterns are:
Mackerel Tabby
'M' marking on forehead. Narrow pencil like lines, stripes running down the
sides in a vertical pattern. Dark colour on spine lines running from
shoulders to tail. Tail has rings and legs have bracelets. All stripes are
unbroken and even throughout.
Classic Tabby
'M' marking on forehead. Has a 'bulls eye'
on each side of body, with a swirl of colour surrounded by very bold, wide
bands of the same colour. (No lines going down the sides). Leg bracelets and
tail rings. Several unbroken necklaces on neck and upper chest.

Spotted Tabby
'M' marking on forehead. A dorsal stripe
runs the length of the body to tip of tail. Markings on body are spots,
round or oval shape. Spots must be distinct and should not run together.
Underside of body will have 'vest buttons'. Legs and tail are barred
Tortoiseshell or Tortie
This is a mosaic pattern of colour. Torbie
colour's are:
Black & Red, Chocolate & Red, Blue & Cream, Lilac & Cream. Torbie pattern
can come in traditional, pointed and mink varieties.

Colour
Point or Si-Rex
In the pointed pattern the 'points' of the cat
are darker than the body colour (usually being a white or cream colour),
like a Siamese. The top and back of head like a mask on the face, legs and
tail are coloured. All pointed cats must have Blue eyes. Solid colour points
are:
Seal point, Blue point, Red point, Chocolate point, Lilac point, cream
point. All these point colour's also come in Tortie and Tabby point.

Mink or
Masked
The mink colour is similar to a colour
point, but the body is coloured a lighter shade than the points. These
include: Brown mink, Blue mink, Chocolate mink, Lilac mink.
The eye colour of a mink ranges from washed out Aqua, Green-Blue to
Blue-Green.

Smoke
The smoke cat appears to have solid colour
until the cat moves and the hairs are parted, revealing a white undercoat.
All smokes come in solid and Torbie colour's.

Bi-Colour
A bi-colour is any solid or
tabby colour and white.
